Meet Mr. Akeem Aníshéré, a gifted, passionate and innovative artist whose journey began as a trained sculptor. He had the privilege of studying under the renowned Nigerian artist Abayomi Barber at the Center for Cultural Studies, University of Lagos. Building on his foundation, he continued his education at prestigious institutions such as Yaba College of Technology in Lagos, Nigeria; Camden Art Center in London, England; Central School of Art and Design, in Southampton Row, England; and the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, California.
His artwork has garnered attention, with exhibitions held across Africa, Europe, and North America. In New York, his pieces have been featured at the Center for Arts and Culture in Bedford-Stuyvesant and the Manhattan Borough President’s Gallery where former New York Mayor David Dinkins was in attendance. As part of his solo exhibition tour "African Abstract Expressionism," Akeem showcased his work at the Center Art Gallery at Middlesex County College and the Harlem Hospital Center Auditorium. As a motivational speaker, storyteller, and lecturer, he has shared his passion for art by teaching sculpture workshops at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
