About Mr. Akeem Aníshéré

Meet Mr. Akeem Aníshéré, a gifted, passionate and innovative artist whose journey began as a trained sculptor. He had the privilege of studying under the renowned Nigerian artist Abayomi Barber at the Center for Cultural Studies, University of Lagos. Building on his foundation, he continued his education at prestigious institutions such as Yaba College of Technology in Lagos, Nigeria; Camden Art Center in London, England; Central School of Art and Design, in Southampton Row, England; and the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, California.

 A results-driven entrepreneur, Akeem is proudly listed in the book “Nigerian Artists Who’s Who and Bibliography,” published in Oxford, England, for the Smithsonian Institute Library at the National Museum of African Art in Washington, DC. Not only is he an accomplished sculptor and painter, but he is also the President and Designer of Aníshéré Designs Jewelers / Aníshéré New York, a jewelry manufacturing company located at 36 West 47th Street, Mezz. 17, New York, NY. Where, he designs and manufactures exquisite fine jewelry that reflects his artistic vision and innovative approach.

 

His artwork has garnered attention, with exhibitions held across Africa, Europe, and North America. In New York, his pieces have been featured at the Center for Arts and Culture in Bedford-Stuyvesant and the Manhattan Borough President’s Gallery where former New York Mayor David Dinkins was in attendance. As part of his solo exhibition tour "African Abstract Expressionism," Akeem showcased his work at the Center Art Gallery at Middlesex County College and the Harlem Hospital Center Auditorium. As a motivational speaker, storyteller, and lecturer, he has shared his passion for art by teaching sculpture workshops at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

 As a renowned jeweler and designer, Akeem has collaborated with the most prestigious jewelry brands in the world. His artistic creativity is best reflected through his captivating jewelry designs, where he transforms precious metals and high-quality gemstones into stunning works of art.

 This multi-talented artist gained further recognition in the April 2007 issue of Black Enterprise Magazine in an article entitled “All That Glitters,” celebrating him as a thought leader in both the art and jewelry sectors.
